Salgat – The Silent Jungle

Salgat - The Silent Jungle

What little people know of the Silent Jungle comes from tales of woe. The massive expanse of thick foilage contains monsters, rougish bandits, and no actual paths or roadways. Some adventures travel through Salgat for the chance of finding hidden treasures. Others seek the knowledge contained within the tomes of Morkeep. Regardless of the intention, those who survive the depths of Salgat often return forever changed.

Major Locations In Salgat

Ancient scholars built Morkeep near the Eastern Coast of the Great Continent. The massive library houses the entire collected literary works of known civilization. In an effort to protect the knowledge, the citizens of Morkeep maintain it in an almost religious fashion.

While the dragonborn contributed little to the actual building of Morkeep, their council took residence shortly after its founding. Some say, they consider the books their hoard, though the laws of Morkeep expressly forbid restricting knowledge from any who earnestly seek.

The dragonborn do protect Morkeep by providing an army of Dragonbait (CR5) warriors.

Possible Plot Hooks

  • Morkeep sends parties all over the Great Continent to collect written works, and pay handsomely for any additions to the library.
  • Nosbelbeyn seeks an ancient treasure with which she seems intimately acquainted.
  • Kimerth knows an inordinate amount about what mythology and fairytales.

While the dragonbait guards protect the exterior, several pests seem to have managed to burrow into the city. Or perhaps they were failed experiments by someone within?

I grew up in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, México, where people either owned cattle ranches or fruit orchards. Much of my work ethic came from working on Rancho La Mesa (my family’s ranch). That ranch also sparked what grew into my wild imagination. I read somewhere that you should write the story you want to read, and that stuck with me. My writing began in sixth grade, around the time I began learning to type.
